Launched a VA Business While Still Full Time

For years I wanted to start my own business of a virtual assistant. However, I came up with all kinds of excuses for not doing so for so long. The excuses ranged from, “you work a full time job, you don’t have time to start a business” to “ you do not have the funds to do so”.

Well, about a year ago, I was sitting in church, yes church. I was listening to my pastor as he was teaching about our gifts that God has given us. God has given us all gifts and some of us are to use our gifts in ministry or a business. He also stated that a business is a ministry because you are helping others who are in need. For a couple of more Sunday’s he taught on a series of working in our gifts. I felt like he was speaking to me and me alone. I am sure that someone else got out of his teachings what they needed and I got out what I needed. But it was what I did with it that would make a difference.

It was then and there I said, “NO MORE ESXCUSES” This is something that I have been wanting and have had a strong passion to do. Now it was time to do something about it.

I said to myself, you assist on a daily basis in your full time job, why not take ownership of what you are good at and use it to help others as well as helping yourself and family. I then put my total faith in God that things would come together for me.

The very first thing to come together, was the opportunity to have a website at no cost to me. I was contacted by a website designer on a social networking site, because he saw that I wrote poetry; and knew I must have the gift of creative writing. He needed someone to write & moderate for his blog on his business women site he owns. At first, I was skeptical of doing so, but after several conversations with him I decided to do so. I asked what are you willing to pay me to do so? He stated that he would not be able to pay me, but could offer me a website for a business or anything I chose to do with it and he would maintain it for me. I said to myself, now this is truly God showing out, because I put my faith in Him, that things would work out for me and my business. I told him that would be just fine, that I was in the process of launching a VA business and needed a website. So there, “No MORE EXCUSES”.

Now, the thought of working a full time job and trying to launch a business or even after the business is up and running, how would I make things work out? I heard a voice in my head, “NO MORE EXCUSES” Well with that in my head, I have come up with my favorite word I like to use and say quite often. “MAXIMIZING”

Maximizing is taking every small moment of time and making great use of it to do something that is important to your business or even your personal life. So, I will tell you this, I just turned my lunch hour on my full time job into a working lunch hour for my business. This time was used to write my first blog. Ah “MAXIMIZING”

So, in summary, if you have a dream of being a business owner, you can do it. Just remember two things, “NO MORE EXCUSES” and “MAXIMIZING”. Well three, join this great forum of other VA’s.
